Another thing that is important to keep in mind when building a pedalboard is the order of your pedals. This can drastically change the sound of an effect. There are many schools of thought to what order they should go in, but here is a general guideline:

Buffer > Pitchshifter > Filters (wah) > Compressor > Volume > Boost > Overdrives > Modulation (chorus, phasers, tremolo, etc) > Delay > Reverb
